7 Places to Elope (other than the registry office)

Because you deserve more than just a stiff… form to sign (ok, ok, I think this is actually a step too far? Yes?)

Look, we’re not here to registry-office-shame. It gets the job done: quick, legal, low fuss. But if you’ve found the one you want to get tangled up with for life, why not make it a little cuter? A little more you? A little less… fluorescent lighting?

There are a ton of places where you can do the deed (by which we obviously mean saying your vows), have a super fun time, and walk away with memories to live in your heart forever.

Here are seven places to elope that are definitely not the registry office, and definitely a lot more satisfying.

1. Your own backyard or loungeroom

Your backyard or lounge room is one of our favourite places to have a quickie. It's simple, low key, everyone feels comfy and it feels like HOME (because it is).

2. A cute lil’ AirBNB

You know the one. The fancy one that you keep coming back to in your search for weekends away. Imagine booking a few nights away, saying “I do,” on perhaps the second night and then spend the rest of the time basking in your newly married status without having to share it with the world just yet.

3. A cosy cabin out in the country

Light the fire. Pour the red. Read your vows while wrapped cosied up on the couch (with just Kyra, Wendy and your two witnesses as voyeurs). We are so here for cosy winter elopement vibes.

4. IN A MELBOURNE LANEWAY

You might be a couple who love Melbourne’s nightlife and food scene, and if so, why not choose the city for your quickie? Book a staycation, get hitched in the afternoon in one of Melbourne’s cool laneways with some awesome city views, followed by dinner at Chin Chins (our personal favourite Melbourne restaurant). Now THIS sounds like a dream.

5. A Rooftop With a View

We know a few spectacular rooftops in Melbourne’s inner city where you get city views but also privacy and epic golden hour pics. Some are private properties and some are bars, all come with (optional) margaritas which we will happily join you in!

6. Among the Trees

Ahhh the bush (lol). We both live out amongst the trees, so we are very at home in this kind of setting. Pack a picnic, bring your rings, your witnesses and soak up the slow, quiet nature vibes. Shoes optional!

7. The Place You Met

Okay, we’re both super sentimental, but seriously…imagine going back to where the sparks first flew and making it official. This is the best story to tell future generations – that you got married in the exact spot where you first met.

A Final Quickie Thought…

You don’t need 100 chairs and a seating chart. All you need is the one you’re choosing as your teammate for life, clothes you feel amazing in, a couple of witnesses, and a place that feels like you.

The registry office will always be there — but your elopement can be so much more than just paperwork.

 So…Fancy a quickie with us?
